The biggest differences in the Brassica Oleracea plants are in the leaves because the leaves of different species have different shapes, sizes, colors and textures.  I would say that the greatest range of variation among the species was also in the leaves. For instance, broccoli has tiny leaves but kale has huge leaves and the leaves of different species are also different colors.  Long ago, when all the brassica plants were in the same area they probably all had the same traits. Then natural variations and mutations starting happening. Also, people started selecting them for selective breeding like artificial selection and that's when the genes started to change. Descendants started to pass different modifications and started changing which was called descent and modification.  Changes might have been caused by natural variation like droughts and bug swarms. Plants develop adaptations to these changes, which modifies their genes. Something that might affect plants are mutations like RNA getting copied wrong.

"Who wants to live a million years"

It took me five  generations to win the game it might've been because I was risking my populations survival

In the beginning I chose a cubby won and a longneck one and long legs I chose this because they are the main groups. The phenotype that let me survive was long neck and long legs. I think this is so because long necks and long legs have a predators from far and long legs can run from them.

yes because I think my population are greatly affected  by genetic drift. I saw evidence of  genetic drift wen I chose red necks as my life line. They quickly populated more then the other groups but  they wuornt strong enough to survive the virus.

Long necks and long legs seam to be the dominant alleles. I can tell because they were the survivors.

A: short legs fur
B:long legs no fur
C:long legs and strips
D:long neck

I would allow people to chose  more then tree phenotypes at the beginning of the game.

A Matter Of Selection

 1.  The part of the Brassica oleracea that has exhibited the most variation is it's height and mass. That is the area where it has showed the most growth, because of the natural resources they get each day like; sunlight, water, and fertile soil from the ground. After all, the part(s) that made the biggest difference between one extreme and its opposite is the color of their leaves, petals, and stems. Compared to others, all the plants have different colors, and sizes because they have different phenotypes.

2. I think that there is many variability in the domestic forms of Brassica oleracea because of the descent of modification from their ancestors and the genes that have been passed down to them. Like some mutations are harmful, not all of the many mutations are harmful.

The Brassica Oleracea plant is different from other plants because its a lot more colorful, taller, and bigger than most plants. The greatest range of Brassica Oleracea plants are broccoli. One of the most Brassica Oleracea plants that stay the same throughout the garden during the different seasons probably broccoli. The only thing that changes about broccoli is when you don’t maintain the broccoli it starts growing little yellow flowers.

Gattaca essay

"Jerome was engineered with everything needed to get into GATTACA….except the desire to do so."

This quote means that genetic engineering will not guarantee success. Jerome had the perfect genes to get into gattaca, but he didn't have the motivation to succeed.  The glass that Vincent was cleaning represented the barrier that he would have to cross to get into gattaca. Water was an obstacle because Vincent had a heart condition  which made swimming a challenge for him.

Tampering with genetics is wrong because people have the right to have their one-of-a-kind child that represents their own DNA.  The consequence of tampering with DNA is that scientists might make a mistake and create an unwanted mutation also, people might use genetic engineering to create a powerful family of super-hero offspring try and gain power.

It is not a good solution to genetically modify trees because it can ruin the food chain. There also might be some negative effects less leave, bark falling, shorter life span, less seeds and nuts,There are many insects and birds that feed off the trees, that might start dying if they can't feed off the trees. This would effect the whole ecosystem.

GATTACA Essay

GATTACA Essay

The movie GATTACA talks about  how to make people genetically perfect to get a good job. To get a good job you have to be valid. For this assignment I had to choose a quot, so I choose "Jerome was engineered with everything needed to get into GATTACA ....except the desire to do so."- Vincent . To me this quote means you have to breath just as bad as you want it, Jerome just didn't want to breath as bad as Vincent.
The second thing I had to choose was a symbol. The symbol I choose was glass/water as invisible obstacles Vincent must overcome. For example: the custodian telling Vincent not to clean the glass too well OR the games of chicken in the ocean. To me this is a symbol of Vincent and hi brother play chicken in the ocean because his brother thought just because his brother is weaker than him it means his brother can’t win.
This is why I think no one can genetically be perfect of just be born perfect because the unperfect are perfect in there own ways and some of the unperfect are a lot more perfect than the perfect and thats what I got from the movie GATTACA.

Who Wants To Live A Million Years: Analysis Of A Natural Selection Simulation

1. I survived on the ninth time trying the game. I think it took me that long because the species needed time to adapt, but the changes around their environment changed way too fast for them to survive. And this game relates to real life species because they need to adapt really quickly, in order to survive.

2. Some phenotypes that I chose that made my species survive were ; long necks, bulky ones, and thin ones. These made me win a couple of times because I guess they survive better with these genes.

3.Will they be greatly affected by genetic drift? Um I think they would because they seem to get really affected by every little change.

4. The dominant ones were long necks, stripped, and bulky. The recessive types were short ones, thin, and the red-colored type. And I could tell because they adapted to their shelter really fast.

5. cold conditions; furry type. warm conditions; thin animals. predators; stripped green ones. new tall food source; tall genes.

6. Some improvements could be; to add more changes to the environment for the species to adapt to, add more than 1 predator and lastly, make more phenotypes for the species.
