Garden Heroes#5

My plant is looking good. The proof that it is alive is that it is continuing to grow taller and wider. Plants are amazing because they start as seeds. The seeds then developed roots while we stored them in the classroom. When the roots got big, we put them in soil and kept them in the classroom. When I finally planted my plant, it was around 4 inches tall. Now three weeks later it is now around 11 inches tall. The leaves have gotten way bigger compared to when we first planted them. More proof that it is alive is that it has attracted a lot of insects. The insects are making holes in the plants. The plant is fighting for survival as the insects eat it for its nutrients. The butterflies, ants and other bugs are spending time around the plants. The bugs wouldn't be around the plant if it was dead because it wouldn't be beneficial for them.

Living things respond to and interact with their environment. My plant has already found a garden buddy because it growing closer and closer to the sunflower behind him. Sunflower and lettuce plants make good buddies because the sunflower provides shade which the lettuce plant likes. But sunflowers attract a lot of bugs so that may be hurting my plant. My plant contributes to the environment by being a source of food and oxygen. People need vegetable plants like cabbage and lettuce to eat and survive. People and all other organisms need the oxygen that the plants make.
