Student Blog Post Assignment #10: Anthers and Stigmas and Styles, Oh My!

In the life of plants they have to fight for survival and the only way that their species can keep living is if they reproduce. The first step is the seed. The seed grows into a beautiful plant so when the plant is mature it has something called the stigma which is the female part which collects pollen. The object that is around the stigma is called the anther's. The anther's are the male part that make pollen. The pollen is plant sperm so when the pollen lands on the stigma it fertilizes the eggs that are inside of the stigma. The only reason this can  happen is because of angiosperm. Angiosperm is a fancy way of saying pollinated by animals. The only way they can reproduce is by the help of animals that are moving their pollen. This is why they are angiosperm pollinated plants.

This is a picture of the flower in full bloom.

There are the anther's with the stigma when you take the pedals of the flower.

This is another picture of the stigma when I cut it open to find the eggs.
The last photo I took was the pollen. The pollen is the plants sperm which animals like bees
transfer the pollen to different plants.
